Unfortunately, Heidi is dead, Damien has fallen off the grid and Matt and I haven't been friends in over 10 years so if you were holding out hope for a Cats Always Land Butter Side Down reunion, sorry it's not going to happen. - Christa

Welcome!
Cats Always Land Butter Side Down just played their first two gigs, making history and irreparably destroying countless persons' safe little ideas about rock n' roll in this sterilized, stream-lined, computer-generated modern age.  Life hasn't been this good since the Birthday Party came to London!  To get a taste of what many of you probably missed (an error for which your grandchildren will never forgive you), check out our album of live pictures from gig #2, March 21st, at the Colony Cafe in Woodstock, NY.

In the winter of 2004, 4 unknowing people were thrown into a social setting where they had no one to talk to but themselves and each other.  Rather than seem crazy they decided to talk to each other. They discovered their common love of music and decided to form a band.  That band is what in now known as Cats Always Land Butter Side Down

Where Cats Always Land Butter Side Down met

Ok. So that's not how it really happened.  But it sounded really good.  This is what really happened.

It really was the winter of 2004. Christa was waiting for her ride. Heidi (Christa's best friend) and Matt (a friend from classes) were keeping Christa company.  Damien, waiting for his night class to start, wandered over and started talking to the only three people in the hallway.  Christa and Heidi knew Damien from randomly hanging out with him in the hallway once a few weeks before.  Christa, knowing their common love of music, said "Let's start a band!... And call it Cats Always Land Butter Side Down!"  The others said "Okay, whatever Christa."  Christa built a website, as a joke.  They semester ended and they left the idea alone.  The next semester started and Damien and Christa turn up in the same math class.  Matt and Heidi also share a class.  Christa pursues the idea of tha band and everyone is still saying "Okay, whatever Christa."  Then one day, Christa logs onto the site and in the guestbook is a link to a Cats Always Land Butter Side Down fansite.  A young girl by the name of Lizzie, came across Christa's joke website and liking the name of the band, built a fansite, based on the name alone.  Christa, excited, told Heidi who in turn became excited and said "Oh my goodness! We have to record now!"  They told Matt, who said basically the same thing as Heidi.  This was on a Wednesday.  Damien attended school only on Tuesday and Thursday.  As soon a Christa got to math class, she leaned over to Damien and said "Our site has a fan."  You can guess what he said. *Hint: Heidi said it and Matt said it.*  They got together that Saturday to create.  They, much to anyones surprise, sounded good together and the rest is yet to come.

Some of the rest: They had two shows, and rocked as hard as they could.  Damien left the band and Cats Always Land Butter Side Down is trying to find their new guitarist.

So the band that wasn't, now is.
